  • Support and Services
    • Aging Resources available through
      • UVA Faculty and Employee Assistance Elder Care Program - Assists employees with Elder Caregiving concerns, helps identify resources, and offers caregiver support groups
      • Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA) - provides support for caregivers
      • UVA Backup Care through Bright Horizons: Benefits-eligible employees receive up to 15 back-up care days / year at UVA’s discounted rate.

Library Resources (free access to Lynda.com, streaming videos, DVDs, music & print)
  • Videos, DVDs and Audio Recordings
    • Lynda.com: Free access to an online training video library for courses and tutorials on hundreds of topics organized under these categories: 3D & Animation, Audio & Music, Business, CAD, Design, Developer, Education & ELearning, IT, Marketing, Photography, Video, Web.
    • Videos and Media Resources:
      • Over 40,000 video recordings and more than 10,000 DVDs may be checked out for 7 days (2 at a time) and are located in Clemons Library Third Floor. Items can be renewed for one additional week
      • Access to unlimited streaming videos
    • Music Library: Over 35,000 audio recordings, including more than 20,000 CDs may be checked out for one semester and are located in the Music Library in Old Cabell Hall
  • Searching the Library Database and Checking out Library Items
    • Circulation Policies: How to check out and renew items, what can be checked out from the library and for how long, etc... Note: all materials can be renewed online (only one renewal for videos). You can return any item to any of the libraries
    • VIRGO search engine for all UVA collections
    • VIVA access for collections not at UVA
    • Interlibrary Loan Services available to faculty, staff, and students
    • Proxy Service available to access on-grounds library resources from home

  • Education Benefit
    • The UVA Education Benefit offers employees two options: tuition benefit and professional development benefit.
  • Professional Development
    • Center for Leadership Excellence (CLE) Offerings: CLE can help you learn the skills you need to lead as an individual and as a manager
    • Online Course Offerings: lynda.com is now available free of charge to UVA employees. Lynda.com offers a wide range of courses in business, IT, marketing, photography, CAD, design, audio and music, web, and much more.
  • Programs and Coursework
    • UVA Schools, such as School of Continuing & Professional Studies and Graduate Studies
    • Curry School Courses - Reduced Tuition: The Curry education benefits program provides funds to reduce tuition charges to $400 per credit hour for courses taken by salaried, benefits-eligible employees of the University of Virginia while enrolled part-time in graduate degree and non-degree programs during the academic year (fall and spring), or enrolled in courses for professional development.
    • Academic Common Market: ACM allows students to pay in-state tuition rates at out-of-state public institutions while studying in select programs not available in their home state.

    • Ombuds service: The University Ombuds is an independent, confidential resource available to assist faculty, staff, and students in resolving problems, complaints, conflicts, and other issues when normal processes and procedures have not worked satisfactorily.
    • Filing a Complaint: EOP is responsible for enforcing these policies on behalf of the University through the EOP Complaint Procedures (Procedures).

  • Green Your Workplace
    • Join the Green Workplace Program which engages UVA employees and workplaces in actions that conserve energy, save money, and advance sustainability. Consider signing up to make your workplace more green.
    • Green your purchasing through the Supply Room Company - Check "yes" in the "Green" filter along the left-hand side of the page.
    • Green your event by following the simple guidelines in this Zero Waste Event Guide
    • Choose a "green caterer" in America To Go: Click on the "Sustainability UVA" icon in the middle of the page to learn more about zero waste events and how to choose a zero waste vendor.
  • ReUse & Recycle
    • Learn What to Recycle - includes office supplies, electronics, paper, cardboard, metal, glass & more
    • Participate in the ROSE Program (scroll to bottom of page) - Donate office supplies or pick up free office supplies
    • Donate or Recycle Household Items - Better World Betty is a great resource for finding out where you can recycle a variety of items, including electronics, paint, batteries, and much more.
